sports quickies

Racing: Scott Dixon wins latest round of the Firestone Indy Racing League in Nashville. Currently 2nd overall, he's 5 points behind series leader, Sam Hornish Jnr. Go, Kiwiboy! Vroom vroom! Churr churr!

Shooting: Triumph amid tragedy for NZ paralympian, Michael Johnson, taking gold in the IPC shooting champs in Switzerland. The kiwis are mourning team mate, Simon Grant, killed in car crash on Thursday. RIP, Mr Grant.

Rugby: A resurgent Wallabies pack obliterate the Springboks, 6 tries-to-nil,
in a record rugby rooting, 49-0, at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium last night. Ozzy's biggest ever victory over Sth Africa. Heh. What a great Australian [hmmm, for some reason my grammar-check keeps drawing a squiggly line beneath those last 2 words] sporting achievement! Onya, Ockerz.

[Tries: Giteau 2, Latham, Paul, Holmes, Chisholm; Mortlock 2 pen, 5 con; Larkham drop goal]

If you girls don't beat them 60-0, I'll be very surprised.

If it hadn't been for the rain in the second half, I reckon we would have come close ourselves.

*cough!* *choke!* *splutter!*

Hmmm, I must get that spam-filter installed to prevent such OFFENSIVE material being posted in the comments box. Bloody spammers!

Oh, goodness me, it wasn't spam after all. Silly me!
Sorry, fm, I didn't see you there - I was just so stunned and outraged by the gender confusion.

I think the Yarpies were just plain crap, and anyone - even the 4th ranked team in the world (hint: name begins with "Austral" and ends with an "a" - could've beaten them on the night. Hopefully they'll be equally crap this weekend. I don't care as long as we beat 'em. And more importantly, we beat the Wobble-ies (or however the heck you spell it)
