blog meme

It's late, I'm insomniac. What to do? Why - a blog meme, of course!
[via Ruth]

Do you like the look and the contents of your blog?
I wish I could widen the text field. It's pointless having empty space between text & sidebars. Content? Blah blah blah blah blah. There! I've succinctly summarised the whole blog.

Does your family know about your blog?
Everyone, including all the cuzzies. I've tried to get them to read it - no luck. Probably coz after listening to me bleat & rant rubbish in real life, the last thing they need is to read it online as well.

Can you tell your friends about your blog? Do you consider it a private thing?
Yeah, but none of them really care since they're not puter people and rarely go online. A private thing? On the net? If it was 'private' I wouldn't be publishing it for the whole world to see.

Do you just read the blogs of those who comment on your blog? Or do you try to discover new blogs?
I read everyone on my blogroll (not daily, of course, not enough time) and randomly follow links as the mood strikes.

Does your blog positively affect your mind? Give an example.
It feels good to get things off your chest.

What does the number of visitors to your blog mean? Do you use a traffic counter?
I did have a counter once, but gave myself too many hits that the tally became ludicrously inflated. I s'pose the clustrmap is technically a counter, but I just like looking at the red dots, wondering how the heck someone from some farflung country managed to land here. Pretty soon the map will expire & all my hard earned dots will disappear, so I might flag it after that.

Do you imagine what other bloggers look like?
No, but I sometimes wonder what they sound like. After constantly reading someone 'talking' on a blog, I wonder what their speaking voice actually sounds like.

Do you think blogging has any real benefit?
It's fun. You meet people online & learn stuff.

Do you think that the blogosphere is a stand alone community separated from the real world?
Not really. There's tons of other online communities: chatrooms, email lists, message boards, etc. Most of them discussing issues in the real world.

Do some political blogs scare you? Do you avoid them?
I generally avoid left-wing blogs; nothing they say interests or inspires me. They don't scare me, but I get my daily dose of left-wing blather from the msm.

Do you think that criticizing your blog is useful?
Other people's criticism means nothing; I'm supremely arrogant (X-Y genes). Unless you're my boss or my sweetheart, your opinion doesn't matter to me (and neither should my opinions bother or matter to you). I don't criticise other blogs - folks are free to do & say what they like.

Have you ever thought about what would happen to your blog if you died?
Hopefully, it will remain in cyberspace to annoy & offend future generations of Labour supporters, lefties, greenies and socialists.

Which blogger has had the greatest impression on you?
Lucianne Goldberg - a hardcore Dubya supporter (like me). I met tons of (American) Republican Jews at her site, whose knowledge and insights completely blew my mind.

Which blogger do you think is the most similar to you?
All the grumpy old men [you know who you are] and the silly buggers. That's me: part grumpy old man/ part silly bugger.

Name a song you want to listen to?
Any waiata-a-ringa or poi by Te Waka Huia - the absolute best kapa haka group ever, imho. [A shame they're Aucklanders]

Tag someone
I identify as a right-winger. People can make they're own decisions. There's enough pushy bossy-boots in NZ already.

Have you got a boss - and a sweetheart? If so, to tell, on both accounts.
